Why customer service matters & how your business can rock!

  This past weekend I was in Spokane, WA speaking at a retreat and stayed at the Doubletree Hotel near the convention center.  My first experience was with the hotel shuttle driver who welcomed me with real enthusiasm and a warm smile.  He asked about my reason for being in town and offered assistance with such things as restaurant suggestions, directions and recommendations on things to see and do during my stay.

Upon arrival at the hotel  the front desk staff was also warm and welcoming. When I mentioned I knew I was too early to check-in the woman said well let me check to see if your room is cleaned and a moment later to my surprise,  my room was ready and she welcomed me to check-in early.

During my stay at the hotel every time I saw the young man at the bell desk who drove me from the airport, he smiled and greeted me and every other person he encountered just as when I first met him.

The point in sharing my personal travel experience is to point out how this one hotel provided me with an excellent customer experience, one that would make me want to come back again and that I would recommend it to others.

Every business should be asking themselves these key questions;

1. What are your target clients looks for from you?

2. Why should they choose you?

3. Would they refer someone to you?

4. What experience do you want to create for potential clients?

The moral to sharing my travel experience is simple really.  I will recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Spokane and I will happily share the positive experience I received with unlimited number of people via social media!  We live in a world where news travels fast – what will people be saying about you?
