Are you meeting your customers where they are?  If they are mobile/smartphone users than it is so important that as a business owner you pay attention to what is happening with Smartphones and Tablets.

According to a August 2012 article in USA Today, nearly six out of 10 U.S. consumers use smartphones, while tablets are used by more than one-third, according to a new survey from Frank N. Magid Associates*.

Smartphones are now used by 58% of American consumers and by 76% among those under age 44, finds the May 26-June 1 survey* of 4,734 consumers ages 12-64, who at least own a cellphone of some type. Meanwhile, tablet usage has risen to 34% from zero two years ago.

Use of both devices is expected to grow. The smartphone audience will rise from 99 million users to 151 million users, an increase of 53%. Tablet users are expected to more than double from 51 million to 106 million.

What you need to know is that most content going forward will be consumed on a mobile device and that it must be accessible and optimized for that platform.  So for example if the majority of your email subscribers use smartphones and if that is how they consume most of their emails, than you should consider changing your email format to a narrower width.  Is your website converted for mobile devices?  If not, you should consider making these changes sooner rather than later.  How about a custom APP (application) for your business?  Consider this, it is a fact that more and more consumers will be making purchases via their smartphones and those with easy to use applications will win.
