social imageIt pays to update your social media platforms, review your successes and failures and refocus how and where you spend your time.  So often I hear from people when they are frustrated, can’t keep up with the fast paced changes and wonder what they should do to increase their exposure and return on the investment of time and money.

Here are some tips to improve your social media presence:

1.) Freshen up your profiles with an updated photo and any updates details about your business. Especially changing out Facebook Business page covers can create more interest and fun about your page.

2.) Be intentional about adding people to your networks on a daily or weekly basis.  Remember, slow and steady is where you will win. Invite people who fit your target audience as well as influencer’s in your niche that you can engage and learn from.  By constantly adding connections you are building your network!

3.) Get in the conversation!  That means engaging with your connections – starting a conversation and getting to know people. This is how to build a network of people. I liken it to a attending a party, you can’t just get invited and expect people make new friends without effort.

4.) Show up consistently!  If you want to build a lively network on social media it requires you to show up consistently.  Start by creating a marketing calendar and outline what you want to share each month, in addition to your basic posts, take time each day to scan your news feeds and see who you can talk with, comment and basically engage with. People often comment to me by saying “JoAnne I see you everywhere” but te fact is, I am not everywhere I am simply consistent about showing up.

How to stay up on the fast changing social landscape

I know there is so much information on social media and you don’t know who to trust and follow, so let me share my best advice…

Narrow your focus on who you are following to gain information.  Find a few people that you trust is putting out good information and follow them as a source of updated information.  By following too many people you often end up with information overload, you will see contrary opinions leading you to indecision.
