Manage your social media presence.

I am often asked if what you post online should be differentiated between your personal and business persona.

Well, my answer to that is no because you are one in the same.  In other words,  if we are transparent than what we post personally will reflect on who we are professionally.

Since Steve Jobs died this past week, so much had been made about him as a private person, with character and commitment which is also how most people view him as  the visionary  founder and leader of Apple.

Another example is with professional sports athletes who have demonstrated let’s say less than admirable behavior in their personal lives we tend to either not watch or cheer for their team and often hope they loose because we view them as losers!  I’m sure you can think of many examples, but suffice it to say that if you didn’t like me personally you most likely will never do business with me.

When you post a picture on Facebook or Twitter do you think how people might perceive you?  Will it change their impression of you.
Ultimately because we now live in a social media world we need to keep our personal & professional lives in check.
